What is available in WorkApps Chat Platform Video Call? What all can I do with it?

Here are some of the features available under Video calling. With this you can:

  1. Distribution of Guest Chat Link - Share Guest Chat link with the proposed customers.
  2. SEO Friendly Guest Chat Pages - Make Guest Chat Link available under search results of major search engines.
  3. Video Recording for audit tails - Record Videos and refer it for the future references
  4. Online Document Verification - Take a screenshot of the document and confirm with authorized databases like PAN / Aadhar etc.

How do I enable Camera settings for a video call as a guest user?

Notifications on desktop or laptops are the best ways to let the users know about the incoming message in run time. To enable them, when a user logs in to WorkApps Account should go to the Browser -> Click on the small lock icon in the Browser Address bar just besides the WorkApps URL on top -> Click on the Camera Drop down -> Select "Allow" option from the drop down. For video calling features you will need Camera & Microphone permissions too as shown in the screenshot below.

What are the pre-requisites for initiating a video call?

OS & Browser Combination & Camera are the only pre-requisites.

Why my guest user cannot see me in a Video Call? What are the pre-requisites for doing a video call?

Ensure that the Guest user is in using the supported browser & its specific version. There are certain browsers which are NOT supported.

There could be 2 reasons why may NOT see this.

  1. Your domain may NOT support it. To check this Visit this URL in Google Chrome 72 & above. https://www.workapps.com/videocheck all the Checks must be green. If you come across a Red Crossed mark. Your network team needs to whitelist the given URL for the check in the Proxy Firewall settings.
  2. The network bandwidth being used by the User OR GU is not sufficient enough to transfer video. Close all browser windows & try to re-start the video call & reconnect.

IE and Edge Browsers do NOT support Video Calling. To do a video call you need to use the following combination of OS and browser.

Windows 7 or 10:  Google Chrome version 65 & above, Firefox 65 & above

Mac: Google Chrome version 65 & above, Safari 12.0 & above

What are the reasons where a video call with a guest user is NOT working?

This could be due to the use of non-supported browsers either by Guest user or WorkApps registered user. The default browser on the Guest Mobile device is other than the supported ones. Have the Guest user go to Chrome app version 65 & above in his android phone and then copy paste/type the URL and re-start the chat.

Why can’t a user from iOS device have a video call with me? It says "Browser Not Supported"

On iPhone use Safari 12.0 browser & version; and open the Guest Chat link in it. Registered user can then re-start the video call with him/her.

Can a Guest User from iOS device do a video call with me?

Yes absolutely! Have the guest user use the Safari 12.0 browser & version.

My Video Call button is in disabled state on Contact Chat window? How do I enable a Video Calling for my account?

What is the setting in WorkApps Chat to record every Video calls automatically?

When you start a video call -> It will ask for the type of call -> before selecting from the One Way, Two Way or an Audio call -> Select the check box "Start recording as soon as the call connects". This video call gets instantly recorded the moment it is accepted by the GU. Henceforth all the calls with all other Guest Users will also be recorded. -> This setting will be remembered every time you start a video call onwards.

To deactivate this setting, just uncheck the check box and next time onwards all of the calls will NOT be automatically recorded; the registered user will need to record from the Video call screen every time it is required.

How much time does it take to upload a video recording file in chat history of a certain size?

Basically it depends. It takes 5 -10 minutes to upload a 3 minutes video recording file. Depending upon the peak hours; total time taken to upload a file may vary.

Have completed a video call of 10 minutes; when can I see the video recording file in the chat history?

Basically it depends. Depending upon the peak hours; total time taken to upload this file may vary between 15 to 25 minutes.

What happens to the video recording if a Guest user on the other end gets disconnected or abruptly closes the Video call window?

The video files are collected in chunks on the central server where it is further processed and merged. If a guest user abruptly closes the video call; it can be safely assumed that the last 10-25 seconds data may be lost due to non-transmission/in transmission fail due to disconnect. But the rest of the Video recording file will be processed and uploaded. WorkApps ensures the reliability of the recordings.

I am using Google Chrome and I still have a problem connecting a video call to the guest user, it says Browser NOT supported; what should I check?

Check what version is being used by both Guest and Registered user. Refer below for more details:

An Organisation employee who is registered in WorkApps but their Video Calling is NOT enabled unlike my Org account; can I start a video call with the contact?

Yes! You can start a video call with the user if your organisation configuration supports the feature for you.

Can a Guest User with whom I have had a video call, see the video recording file in the Video Chat History?

No! A Guest user cannot see the video call recording file in the Chat History unless you exclusively download it and then share it as a file attachment in the chat conversation.

The admin has just activated the "Video Calling" Setting for the Organisation and the Org employees is still NOT able to call the Video icon is still disabled on the chat bar window?

In this case the Admin should check the employee level setting. To enable the Video Calling ability for an employee; Admin should go to Admin Tab->Select the employee -> Click on the "More Menu" icon of the employee record->select Enable Video option. To disable it back follow the same steps; this time the option would be "Disable Video"

What is the minimum speed in kbps that is required to do a Video Call through WorkApps Chat?

WorkApps ensure minimum bandwidth usage out of the available internet speed. Minimum supported bandwidth consumption which is capped at 128 by default. Ideally it should be 256. Depending on the network bandwidth usage in an organisation even 2 mbps internet line can be insufficient.

A Guest User is having a problem with his Mobile Network; what all will be affected is Video Call is still carried out?

Text message will NOT be affected at all. Video calling experience can be hampered. Audio & Video lag can be seen. To ensure a smooth video calling experience; the Guest user should be settled at a place with better signal.

Can I mute my audio during a video call?

Yes you can!

Is it possible for a registered user to know the current upload and download speeds of the guest user?

Yes a registered user can see the speeds of both, his/her own and the speed at which a Guest user is having a call.

Am having a call with a guest user, can I know the bandwidth usage I am using from the total available?

Yes you can! On the right hand top corner, a registered user can see the Organisation pipe capping and the available pipe size between both.

I am a credit manager of a BFSI Company; I do a lot of video calls every day with loan applicants how can I configure every video call be recorded automatically?

What is NOT available in WorkApps Chat Platform Video Call?

There are multiple things that you can do with video calling in WorkApps enterprise account. There are certain things which are NOT available

  1. Only Screen Sharing. You cannot take a remote session.
  2. When you start a type of video call and start recording; final video Recording will be of the type you selected and not of the type you switched in between the call after video call recording started.

What is Throughput check? How does it affect my Video call quality?

This is a feature where you can check your connection’s total throughput. Throughput is not the same as bandwidth. Speed test & throughput check are also not the same thing. Throughput is the available speed you are getting basis all other users in the same network for the given bandwidth. We recommend an uninterrupted throughput of 256 kbps or above for a smooth video calling experience. For smooth video calling experience; please close all browsers / programs that might be accessing internet before starting the check.

How do I ensure that the video call is recorded by default when I start the Video Call?

What is the difference between video call recording and initiating Video call?

Video call is where you interact with the guest. Video recording will record the interaction with the guest. Both of these need to be initiated separately. You can also do a setting on the Video Call Start page for automatically starting the Video Recording on Video call start.

Can I continue my Video call even after the Video Call recording is done? Will it affect my video recording upload?

Yes you can! It will NOT affect your Video Recording file upload.

I have initiated a video call recording and it lasted less than 10 seconds will it be counted?

Nope! The video recording should be more than 10 seconds in overall length

Is there any notification for a Video Recording File successful upload?

Yes! The WorkApps Registered User will be notified when the recorded file is uploaded in the chat history.
